Our First Wedding Show
On Sunday 19th January we attended our first wedding fair. We’ve had stalls at a few Christmas and summer events but this was the first time we’d been to this type of event with our handmade horseshoe decorations.
Wedding Rental Service
It was a bit scary but exciting at the same time. Our new website in September gave us the chance to release our wedding rental service to the world. We sent out our first rental items in November, which were gladly received by Fee and Jim to display at their reception. We had wonderful feedback from the happy
couple who had a lot of interest in our cake stand and table numbers.
At the end of 2019 we were privileged to become preferred suppliers to The Jockey Club at nearby Newmarket and for their other venues across the country. So it made perfect sense to have a stand at the Newmarket Racecourse Wedding Fair.
Preparing for the Wedding Fair
Preparing for the fair included designing and printing leaflets for our wedding & gift items. We laid out our proposed display on the dining table so we could see what worked best. Hayley & I went out and bought hessian and a few flowers and then practiced our floristry skills and decorated our hearts. We created table
settings and Stuart even made a pew end to hang our items from. All to show how our products add some rustic charm to a country wedding.
We set everything up on the Friday afternoon and the display looked amazing. Regency Cakes in Exning lent us a couple of their beautiful cakes to adorn our cake stands. We were ready to meet the brides.
On the day
Sunday morning we arrived bright and early, adding a few small pieces we had forgotten on Friday – like plates & cutlery for the table setting and then we waited for the visitors. The fair started at 10am and being upstairs it took a while for the guests to work their way up to us. We had a fantastic spot, right in front of the stairs so we were the first stand people saw as they arrived on the first floor.
The rest of the day went really quickly with lots of interest from brides planning a country style wedding. Some are taking place this year but some brides were planning ahead to 2021 and even 2022. We spoke to a wide selection of people, coming out from behind our stall to offer our wedding leaflets and to chat with the visitors. The brides liked our table numbers, heart candle holder and tall heart decoration.
Looking Forward to the Next Wedding Fair
3pm came round so soon, it was time to pack up and head home after our successful first wedding fair. We have some brides to contact and other exhibitors to follow up with. We are now looking forward to our next event at the Rustic Wedding Show. The event is being held on 19th April at Horsley Hale Farm, Littleport, just up the road from us. I can’t wait as it’s so lovely to talk to people about their plans for their big day.
