Our Story
Stuart was a keen horseman and pony club member from a young age, he trained as an agricultural engineer refining his welding & forging skills. He is now keen to use these skills to make individual, & beautiful country styled items.
Carol has a finance background and loves rustic, cottage style and being social in person & online. Together for nearly 30 years we run our business with firmly held values.
We have lived at Anvil Cottage since 2011, beside the river Great Ouse near the historic city of Ely, not far from Newmarket & Cambridge. To the front we look out over the riverbank while at the rear we have rural views over the fenland fields.
Our values are important to us, we are driven by making consistently stylish and organically distinctive items and providing honest and reliable customer service.
Our vision is to be recognised as the premier maker of quality, handmade horseshoe gifts, accessories and functional items with a friendly and supportive customer experience.
Our products are hand crafted, designed with artisan style using new or used horseshoes from Newmarket or using customer’s shoes.
We use a mixture of authentic traditional and modern skills and tools, creating unusual items with an engineering twist. We thoroughly clean the shoes, removing dirt and other contaminants and we finish our pieces with a clear lacquer to preserve the finish unless the customer requests a colour.
A lot of our inspiration comes from the shape of the horseshoe as it naturally lends itself to many items, we design and create our items to be attractive, upcycled gifts and home accessories or practical, useful items which will last for years.
